· Laser surface remelting of Ti and its alloys is using a high power laser beam to melt the surface of workpiece (or sample) to be treated. With the lasergenerated melt pool solidifying rapidly after laser beam movement a layer of fine martensite is thus produced on the surface of the Ti alloy and a film of TiO 2 on the top surface both of which have excellent wear and corrosion resistance.
